Mar. 10, 2024 - #Fourth_Sunday_in_Lent - "B" Cycle.
Readings: 2 Chronicles 36: 14-16, 19-23; Psalm 137: 1-2, 3, 4-5, 6;
Ephesians 2: 4-10; John 3: 14-21
The readings for the 4th Sunday of Lent Year B, remind us of the great love and mercy of our God. They remind us that our salvation is a gift freely given by God and that we are called to respond with faith and gratitude.
In the first reading from 2 Chronicles, we hear about the sins of the people of Judah that led to their exile and suffering. Despite their disobedience and unfaithfulness, God did not abandon them. Through the prophet Jeremiah, God promised to bring them back to their land and restore their fortunes. This is a powerful reminder that no matter how far we may have strayed from God, His love and mercy are always available to us.
The psalm echoes this theme of God's enduring love, as we are reminded over and over again of His steadfast love and faithfulness.
