This is from a period of time (early 2020) when I was really working on time, and figuring out how to establish sort of internal time. So this is a few choruses of Eric Alexander playing Four. However, here I'm not playing with Alexander, rather I've just got a metronome set on 2 & 4.
Around this time, I also began learning the solo with the player, and really trying to mimic them, but then playing the solo either a capella (like here) or over a completely different backing track. The work I did on Skylark is like that, it is just be playing, but the first part of that work was a transcription of Chris Cheek.
Incidentally, my next post will be another a capella transcription, but that will be with the tremendously fabulous Roy Hargrove.
