Today, January 9th, is the birthdate of the late Bob Denver, Gilligan on Gilligan's Island. As we look back at the 1966-67 television season on this 50th anniversary year, we'll be paying tribute to the final season (of three) of the original broadcast television run on CBS of the series.
We started our tribute in November with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Gilligan's Island series creator, Sherwood Schwartz. In December, we paid tribute to Jim Backus (Thurston Howell III) and Mr. Magoo. Today, we'll view an interview with Bob Denver and Alan Hale Jr. (The Skipper).
This interview was done on the NBC Late Show way back on May 17, 1988. It was the last time the entire show cast and it's creator were interviewed together (although they would reunite again later in the 1988 on a Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous episode... more on that later this spring).
For the next couple of months as we push through winter into spring, we'll have additional video segments from this entire Late Show cast interview as we pay a special tribute to Gilligan's Island, its cast and creator.
Enjoy!
