Despite advances in the management of multiple myeloma and the inclusion of immunotherapy in all lines of treatment, some patients remain refractory to immuno-oncology approaches. In this interview, Claudio Cerchione, MD, PhD, Istituto Scientifico Romagnolo per lo Studio e la Cura dei Tumori (IRST) IRCCS, Meldola, Italy, shares results from a retrospective, real-world analysis, in which the combination of bendamustine, bortezomib, and dexamethasone (BVD) was evaluated as salvage therapy for relapsed/refractory (R/R) multiple myeloma. The findings suggest that BVD may be an effective therapeutic option for patients with R/R multiple myeloma, even in challenging cases.
