Croatian car maker, Rimac has unveiled its latest all electric hypercar at the Geneva Motorshow.
It's the second all electric hyper car by the supercar company following the Concept One unveiled in 2012.
The follow up to the much revered Concept One promises to be faster than its predecessor and autonomous.
STORYLINE:
A riveting performance by Croatian band, "Two Cellos from Croatia" preceeded the highly anticipated follow up to Rimac's Concept One.
After much musing about what the new name would be, the carmaker's founder and CEO, Mate Rimac named his latest hypercar C2, but Rimac says this younger sibling is a completely different car, describing it "an entirely new generation".
Rimac's first model boasted a 4-motor electric powertrain, 1,088 horsepower, 0-60 mph acceleration in 2.5 seconds, and a top speed of 220 mph.
The C2 has a top speed of 412 kmph, 258 mph with a traction control system and custom made Pirelli tyres. It does 0-60 mph in 1.85 seconds and 300 km per hour in just 11.8 seconds.
This latest model sports has a new high power 120kWh battery which allows a 650 km range. The battery can be recharged with 250 kWh which allows it to power up from zero to 80% in 30 minutes.
"When it comes to the design the proportions are completely new complared to the Concept One but we can still see our design DNA. We continued to refine our DNA and the key features of our cars, so what you can see here on the side is our signature tie and one of the most important attributes to the dynamic of the car because this is the air intake for the rearpower train - we have separate cooling systems for the front powertrain and the battery - and separate systems for the rear of the powertrain, so we have seven cooling systems separately in this car and what this feature here represents is a tie - and the tie is an homage to our heritage - where we come from - for Croatia because both the tie and this car are both Croatian brainchilds designed and made entirely in Croatia," says Rimac.
There is even trunk space and what Rimac describes as the ability for a "graceful entry" into the car - that's if you can get the butterfly doors to open correctly.
The C2 is being limited to 150 units.
The annual Geneva International Motor Show opens to the public on 8 March and runs until March 18 2018.
Around 900 models will be shown by 180 exhibitors, including over 110 world and European premiers.
