Our next-generation silicon anode technology is dictating how high we can fly, how far we can travel, and how long we can talk on a mobile phone. Amprius silicon-anode batteries offer a drop-in replacement for conventional lithium-ion batteries while delivering up to 2X the run time of commercially available graphite cells.
Our Ultra-High Energy Density Lithium-ion cell includes 3 parts: the cathode, anode, and separator.
The fabrication process starts off with the bare foil cut into sheets, which are then loaded into boats for the deposition process, which utilizes a production-proven platform designed for high throughput. The nanowire template is grown directly from the current collector, followed by the deposition of 100% silicon to form the silicon nanowire. Our unique Amprius cells have deposition on both sides to create our ultra high energy density.
Once unloaded, the electrodes are laser cut to the necessary form factor. The silicon-anode is assembled with commercially available cathode and separator components. The components are then layered with a conventional stacker to assemble the cell.
Electrolyte allows the flow of electrical charge between electrodes. After final testing, our cells are ready to ship to customers.
