Recently a number of signatories including various advertising bodies signed up to the European Union's updated Code of Practice on disinformation. These signatories also included some prominent names such as Meta, Google, Twitter and Microsoft etc. All these major players have agreed to take efforts in tackling disinformation dissemination or else they would face hefty fines. The companies are required to comply with pledges within six months.
