Myron Lavell Avant, a.k.a Avant grew up in Cleveland, Oh. He released seven albums, three of which went platinum. From those albums, he produced 15 Billboard top 100 singles. His first single was "Separated," which is based on a past relationship. He was 17 years old, and she was 24. He recalls wearing his heart on his sleeve at the time. Those emotions produced a number six spot on the Billboard's top 100. His single, "My First Love" featuring Ms. Keke Wyatt stayed in the number one position on the billboard adult R&B airplay for 11 straight weeks.
