Not just a diesel shortage, there’ll be the food shortages, chip shortages, wood shortages, all the various product shortages, inflation, and so much more.
The shortages are coming! Nobody likes the word "shortage." Nonetheless, scarcity appears to be something we must become accustomed to. We used to believe that the shortages we were experiencing would be resolved by the beginning of 2020. However, this does not appear to be the case nearly three years later. Supply chain issues are still prevalent, and they are expected to worsen in the future.
We thought that once the Covid pandemic was over, things would return to normal, and there were many promises made. Unfortunately, almost three years later, things have not returned to normal. Indeed, more shortages are expected, with some speculating that the overall situation may be life threatening.
How many people out there are digging through the back corners of the medicine cabinets questioning, "Does this really expire?" With the massive shortage of medicine in stores and cold and flu season raging on?
The FDA has issued a warning about a severe shortage of Amoxicillin, which is required to treat certain common infections in children. Adderall is also in short supply. If we look at the FDA's official shortage list of drugs, we can see that there are a total of 183 different drugs where there are shortages! And the situation is even worse in Canada, where basic painkillers such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen are in short supply. Now is not the best time for there to be a medicine shortage in Canada.
Major pharmacies CVS, Walgreens are limiting sales of child pain & fever medication amid high demand. This will get worse—Pharmacies are running low of such meds across US and Canada and parts of Europe. Even China has shortage.
The main reason for such shortages appears to be a lack of raw ingredients normally used to manufacture such prescription medications. These are typically sourced from China. So, if a conflict with China breaks out, things will get even worse.
Shortages of basic ibuprofen is getting extreme in China too. It is sold out in stores— people are now directly going to the factories of the ibuprofen manufacturers— waiting in long lines to buy them. If China has shortage, the rest of the world will have shortage.
And the situation is not limited to prescription medications. Other products are also in short supply. Following the bird flu earlier this year, turkey stocks were depleted, and turkey prices increased by 73% compared to last year!
Butter will also be in short supply in the near future. The war, combined with the rising cost of dairy products, has hampered the supply of butter.
Not to mention the diesel shortage in America, which many people are concerned about right now. Given the number of diesel-powered vehicles, trains, trucks, and ships, transportation, deliveries, and logistics will be severely hampered. Diesel shortage is going to be devastating to US economy unless it’s sorted out quickly
The main cause of these shortages is that Russian imports have been cut off, and refineries are unable to meet demand. As a result, diesel supplies will be extremely limited in the coming months.
