On November 8th, the U.S. held the midterm elections, which are primarily about control of the two chambers of parliament, the Senate and the House of Representatives, together called Congress. So far, the Democrats have controlled the presidency as well as Congress.

However, it is typical for the opposition, at the moment the Republicans, to take over at least one of the two chambers in the midterm elections. If that happens, Joe Biden will have a very difficult time governing because the opposition can block virtually all legislative proposals. At the moment it looks like the Democrats will keep the Senate and the Republicans will take over the House of Representatives.
