Hello and Welcome!
Sit back and relax... it's gonna be a long one!
Today is a tarot study video. Dom, dom, dom... LOL.
41:47 Major Arcana on the Tree of Life
(if you dont want to watch the whole video)
I have always found Hermetic Mysticism fascinating. After studying with the Rider-Waite tarot system for many years, I began expanding my knowledge of all the tarot systems (Rider-Waite, Crowley, Marseille). In my opinion, Hermetic Mysticism, Qabalah and even Alchemy were ingenius systems to incorporate into the tarot as study tools.
The primary concern of Hermetic Qabalah lies in figuring out the nature of divinty. The Tree of Life is a symbolistic chart that defines series of emanations from the godhead (Kether) down to the earthly plane of existence (Malkuth). Each sephirah are like nucleus of divine energy. Qabalists were to meditate on each sephirah seperately and together as one divine chart. This was thought to bring them out of the earthly plane of existence (Malkuth) up the Tree of Life toward the godhead (ascension).
Eliphas Levi was the scholar who, first, associated the Trumps of the tarot with the paths between the sephiroth and the minor arcana with the sephiroth themselves.
Today, I am only looking at the major and minor arcana to determine if we can identify characteristics from the Tree of Life. However, this system involves so much more than just the tarot. This could include angels, occultism, esotericism and the mixing of Greek and Egyptian deities which came to light from the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
I hope that I convey the information in a fun and applicable way for you all. I also hope you are feeling enlightened and ready to learn something exciting with the tarot.
Quote by Samuel Liddel MacGregor Mathers: "Thus the whole series of the twenty-two trumps will give a connected sentence which is capable of being read thus:–The Human Will (1) enlightened by Science (2) and manifested by
Action (3) should find its Realisation (4) in deeds of Mercy and Beneficence (5). The Wise Disposition (6) of this will give him Victory (7) through Equilibrium (8) and Prudence (9), over the fluctuations of Fortune (10). Fortitude (11), sanctified by Sacrifice of Self (12), will triumph over Death itself (13), and thus a Wise Combination (14) will enable him to defy Fate (15). In each Misfortune (16) he will see the Star of Hope (17) shine through the twilight of Deception (18); and ultimate Happiness (19) will be the Result (20). Folly (0), on the other hand, will bring about an evil Reward (21)."
