Cleaning and maintaining of your CPAP machine.
This video will cover the product line for Respironics CPAP Machines
1. Check for any exterior damage to your CPAP unit.
Wipe away the dirt and dust accumulated on the surface with a damp cloth.
2. Every 3-6 months you should be cleaning and or replacing the air filters.
This will limit the inhalation of dirt and dust.
Simply remove the filter cover as seen here.
Remove the old filter and replace with the new.
If you do not have replacements, be sure to contact our office.
3. Cleaning of the humidifier chamber should be performed once a week.
Always check for mold and slimmy growth in the humidifier chamber
Fill a basin full of warm water
Using a mild dishwashing detergent, give the humidifier chamber a good clean.
If some particles are not coming off you may find the use of a Vinegar and water solution to be beneficial. 3 parts water 1 part vinegar This will eliminate the growth of bacteria and mold. , just remember to rewash the chamber in soapy dishwater to remove the vinegar scent.
Replace the humidifier with distilled water and away you go.
Now that your machine is clean it’s time to ensure that it is working correctly, a visit to our office will allow us to calibrate your machine, verify your pressures and download the data gathered on your machine this ensures your sleep disordered breathing is properly treated on your current settings.
This is also a good time to send off a report and letter to your healthcare team advising them of your challenges and success with your therapy.

4) Verify your pressures are correct and your values are indicative of a treated range
