Was the OVER 30 year wait for Mad Max: Fury Road worth it?

Whenever there’s a super successful movie, it’s only a matter of time before a sequel starts getting discussed! A lot of the time, movie studios will strike while the iron is hot and you’ll see a sequel to a hit film in just a few years. But what happens when the opposite occurs and the sequels are released after 10, or 20, or even after 30 years? Are these films worth the wait? Or do they make you question whether there should’ve been a sequel at all?

Mad Max: Fury Road came out 29 years after the last film in the Mad Max franchise, and even though it didn’t see Mel Gibson return, the loose sequel was a massive critical success that was nominated for Best Picture and Best Director so that was definitely worth the wait. Compare that to something like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which even though had Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg reteam to bring back one of the most iconic pop culture characters of all time, it totally failed to live up to the high expectations that fans created and totally nuked the fridge.
