A Combat Team centred on 8th/9th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment (8/9 RAR), conducted urban operations at Wide Bay Training Area as part of Exercise Ram Horn in early November. The Combat Team was made up of 8/9 RAR, 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment, 1st Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, 2nd Health Battalion, 1st Military Police Battalion and 7th Combat Signal Regiment. Exercise Ram Horn is part of 7th Brigade’s Exercise Diamond Strike. Soldiers from Alpha and Charlie companies completed an assault on the trenches using non-lethal ammunition to defeat an enemy party occupying the township. Enhancing conventional warfighting capabilities was a major focus of Exercise Ram Horn.
