Cleaning vinyl records ultrasonically really does work. There are a couple of things to watch out for though, mainly that with the cheaper Chinese manufactured units the supplied discs are NOT label protectors but are in fact spacers. These "spacers" are larger than the label themselves, so it is possible that they may touch the water even though the label does not, and this will cause your precious label to get wet. If this does happen, don’t panic! It seems the majority of labels will dry out perfectly – but I did have one that left a small watermark so it is best to avoid if possible. You will be less likely to make the mistake if you do one record at a time, as you can clearly see the LP from both sides, however when attempting to clean 5 LP’s at the same time, the middle ones are VERY difficult to see and you will not be using the discs for the first and last LP on the outer side, so you really do need to pay attention to the water level based on the indicator line within the tank and do not try to use the outer or inner label as your reference point.

Apart from that though, for a little over $200 this unit has really improved the sound quality of records markedly, and not caused any damage. My wife and I have tried listening to dozens of LP’s in a before and after test – and in every case the cleaned record sounds much much better. I would very much recommend this to the record collector, but there are some ingredients you will need to create your formula.
