A question at get asked often is “What type of knot do you tie on the trawl net?”.
It’s called a Cod knot. This knot has a very specific function. It's one way of tying up the bottom end of the trawl net so that the catch doesn’t open while in the bay.
Basically it’s a type of "braiding" method to take up the extra rope. If you like you can tuck the ends through the final bight to secure it. When you want to undo it, you'd untuck the ends and pull alternately on each line to unzip the knot.
