BMW Mini was making a metallic rattling noise from the engine bay, was suspected camshaft chain rattling but upon inspection turned out to be a faulty Auxiliary belt crankshaft pulley, The cush drive that connects the outer and inner of the pulley had separated allowing the outer part of the crank pulley to rattle, also caused damage to the belt and idler pulleys as a result of it. To replace the idler pulley and belt required the drivers wheel, arch liner and headlamp to be removed for access and to access the damaged idler pulley required the engine mount to be removed and the engine to be jacked up slightly to access to idler pulley bolt. Not a particularly hard job but quite involved and tricky fitting the new belt due to lack of space.
