Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw was evacuated after the Union County Sheriff's Office received a "suspicious call," a Union County Schools spokesperson confirmed.
Union County schools said all students and staff are safe and that the evacuation was precautionary. Lt. James May, the Public Information Officer for the sheriff's office, said deputies received a call early Monday morning with someone claiming there were "bombs inside Marvin Ridge High School."
As a precaution, the building was evacuated and explosives K-9s were called to the school to assist deputies performing a visual check. As of 10:15 a.m., no devices had been found. May said the only people inside the school were law enforcement officers and K-9s searching for any possible explosives, as all students and staff members were removed from the building.
