My model is HP Envy TouchSmart 15-J109TX and the disassembly is same for all HP Envy TouchSmart Notebook PC as well as HP Envy Notebook PC.
RAM I used:
Kingston 8 GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL11 1.35Volts

If you are upgrading RAM in your laptop, you can do that in either of two ways:
1. If the CPU in your laptop supports faster RAM than what is already installed in your laptop, then you can remove the old one and buy new RAM Modules of faster frequency to match that with maximum frequency supported by your CPU. This will give you a performance boost.
Example: If your CPU supports up to 2100 MHz and your current RAM is of 1600 MHz frequency, then you can remove that and get new RAM Module of 2100 MHz frequency.
Also check your motherboard specification before doing that.
2. If the RAM module installed in your laptop is already the highest frequency supported by your CPU, then just get another RAM module with the same frequency.
Example: If your CPU supports 1600MHz frequency of Ram, and your installed RAM is also of 1600MHz, then just get another stick to increase your RAM.
If you are not sure where to find these information, install CPU-Z and you can know every thing about your hardware.
P.S.: Before purchasing RAM, make sure the new module that you are purchasing runs on the same voltage as that of the one already installed in the laptop. Same goes for cas latency (written on RAM as CL11 or CL9) and timings. You might want to make sure each stick has these same, if you don't wish to be greeted with a blue screen.
