The Conservatives are planning to get rid of stamp duty for first time buyers on properties bought for under £425,000.
But Grant Shapps appeared to get the figure confused, suggesting stamp duty wouldn't apply for properties worth £450,000 or under. So only out by £25,000 at this point.
Pressed on the correct figure of £450,000, he said: "If you've got a number in front of you, you're probably right because I was saying it off the top of my head... You're right, it's £450 million." But, far from correcting himself, the Defence Secretary ended up even further away from the right number. £449,550,000 away from the right number...
