....It Was Women's History Week at Miami-Dade Community College!
Wait, what?
You probably were thinking we'd kick off Women's History Month with a clip about Women's History Month. But Women's History Week, centered on March 8, International Women's Day, came before Women's History Month, almost a decade before Women's History Month was designated by the U.S. Congress in 1987.
Three years before Women's History Month was a thing Women's History Week got started at Miami Dade Community College's North Campus, with Dade County State Attorney (and future U.S. Attorney General) Janet Reno leading the way.
The celebration seems to have had a distinctly homemade air, with a tribute to women in sports and a Donna Summer reference on an event poster to remind us that it was 1984.
