A large crowd of supporters, including women, gathered outside the residence of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh to express their support for him. Speculation had been mounting that the Chief Minister might resign, but his supporters were determined to show their backing. MLA Leishangthem Susindro Meitei read out a letter that he claimed was Biren Singh's resignation letter. However, the letter was torn up by the women supporters who were standing beside him. The women urged the Chief Minister not to step down and to continue serving the people of Manipur. Biren Singh himself addressed the crowd and thanked them for their support. He said that he would not resign and that he was committed to serving the people of Manipur.
