The song was composed based on the personal experiences of the writer, reflecting a lifelong journey intertwined with faith and community. Since childhood, the writer consistently attended Daily Vacation Church School (DVCS), which later evolved into what is now known as Vacation Church School (VCS).
Throughout her years in VCS, the songwriter found numerous opportunities to serve Jesus and her church. Starting as a young student, she actively participated in singing and dancing. As she grew older and transitioned into a teenage teacher, these activities continued to be a significant part of her service. This progression allowed her to nurture and utilize the talents that God bestowed upon her, enriching both her life and the lives of those around her.
Vacation Church School has a long and varied history, functioning in diverse ways for over a century. It has been a platform for countless individuals to discover and hone their God-given abilities, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth. Through this composition, the songwriter shares a piece of her enduring journey with VCS, celebrating the profound impact it has had on her faith and creative expression.
The Tagalog word for a hundred is "isang daan." For over a century, VCS has been an integral part of the lives of children in churches and communities. VCS has become a "way" (isang daan) for learning new songs and dances, as well as for making friends and building family connections.
