THIS IS A COMMUNITY LIVESTREAM.
The COVID-19 virus keeps the world in a gridlock, but instead of accepting to stand still, we try to productively move forward.
The numerous nation-wide measures to slow the spread of the virus have an impact on our everyday lives, but lowering the number of infections needs to be the number one priority right now.
In the case of cancellations of events such as concerts, dj gigs, performances in theatres, etc. – also on a number of artists who make their living from such shutdown events.
The musicians of Zurich‘s electronic music scene love to perform and they rely on these gigs to cover the cost of living.
Even if we are not allowed to travel for now, our music sure can. That is why we came up with this self-organized stream for Zurich’s electronic music scene.
Without being bothered by hierarchies and instead with what’s best for the collective in mind.
Along the way, we may even have found a way of paying artists in a fair and transparent manner by evenly dividing all donations that come in.
You can enjoy the sets wherever you are in safe distance and support the DJs with a donation.
All donations will be evenly distributed among all DJs and the donation balance will be shown transparently after the mayhem is over.
At the time when we launched this stream - 5 hours after the press conference where the closure of event spaces was declared - there were no measures announced to absorb the economic effects for artists and self-employed individuals.
Since then the Swiss government has announced new measures to help these groups too.
The donations will still be evenly distributed, but optionally, should a DJ no longer need the donation, he/she can decide that we should donate it to one of the causes stated below.
Social distancing doesn’t mean we have to be alone. Now more than ever.
Update 09. April 20:
We are streaming now since 4 weeks and have hosted 100 artists in this time.
Thanks to everybody involved and thanks to all of you for your support.
At the moment we are planning to stream again this weekend.
We are closely monitoring the developments and the government’s assessment. Based upon the different factors we will assess the further streams in time.
Artists and self-employed individuals in precarious times. We are fortunate to live in a society where our community can raise funds to support us during this time. Other people are not on the same side. That’s why please have a look at the following initiatives and support them as well:
Médecins Sans Frontières / Ärzte ohne Grenzen
Years of war in Syria have weakened the health system, with over 80 hospitals having to close in the Idlib region alone. Within a few months almost one million people were displaced. Last week Syria confirmed the first case of Covid 19.
Médecins Sans Frontères is an international, independent medical humanitarian organisation.

Züri City Card
The corona virus hits sans-papiers particularly hard. Many lose their jobs and can no longer provide for their basic needs alone. The current crisis is threatening their existence.
The purpose of the Züri City Card association is to introduce a City Card for the entire resident population of the greater Zurich area. This is intended to strengthen the rights and their enforcement as well as the social and political position of the holders of this City Card, irrespective of a regulated residence status.

Lesvos Solidarity
Solidarity should not end at Europe’s borders. The refugee camps are crowded and social distancing measures are almost impossible to implement in these precarious situations.
Lesvos Solidarity is a Greek NGO supporting refugees and locals in Lesvos. Their mission is to provide community-based solidarity spaces, give shelter, promote integration by developing skills and knowledge and to advocate for an inclusive society which respects human rights.
