Most of us know that the spacing of our sunflowers impacts the bloom head size and the stem thickness. But how about stem length? Why is it that some people get short sunflowers especially when they plant out early in the spring? I dove into this topic looking at the research and found that the answer likely lies within daylength sensitivity (photoperiod).
