How to set up Polybar on Linux for a nice-looking status bar.
I'm using i3 on Arch, but most of the video is applicable to any distro and DE/WM.

Start by installing the polybar package from the AUR
Unlike what I said in the video, you do need to copy the config. So, do as follows:
mkdir -p ~/.config/polybar
cp /usr/share/doc/polybar/config ~/.config/polybar
And then you can continue by trying "polybar example" in a terminal

Here is the launch script itself:
if type "xrandr"; then
for m in $(xrandr --query | grep " connected" | cut -d" " -f1); do
MONITOR=$m polybar --reload example &
done
else
polybar --reload example &
fi
And then in my polybar config, I have:
[bar/example]
monitor = ${env:MONITOR:}
[...]
