Many patients have been requesting a GenXLift. This procedure that’s only available in Dr. Shapiro’s office has met the demands of many patients that are somewhere in the continuum of aging between the mid-thirties and the mid-fifties. They may not be ready, either financially, psychologically or down time related issues, for a full face lift.
A GenX lift has advantages over other procedures that perform facial rejuvenation. The advantages of the GenX lift are that it's a staged procedure. It involves multiple modalities. That is multiple treatments that specifically and are tailored to each patient's needs. In patients that have some early aging they can have a stage one of the GenX lift. That is basically a four-day peel, which is laser therapy, a micro laser peel along with pro-fractional treatment to even out the pigmentation along with some tightening of the collagen and increase of the elasticity of your skin. The beauty of that is that it's less recovery than more advanced laser therapies or more involved laser therapies with only a four-day laser recovery.
The next part of that is some volume replenishment with your own tissue. Dr. Shapiro would take some fat from one area of your body, go ahead and spin that in a centrifuge and very delicately re-inject that in the hollow areas of your face. The beauty of that is it is a very refined procedure. Dr. Shapiro has been doing fat transfer for 15 years and is very effective in his method. Dr. Shapiro has impressive retention rates. The advantages of that is that basically you really don't have to think about many soft tissue fillers after that. It tends to be a more permanent treatment. Again the beauty of this and the advantages of this stage of the GenX lift is it can be performed in the office under oral sedation. There's no down time really other than a week or so. You really avoid a lot of that anxiety about going into the operating room and having anesthesia.
The last stage of the GenX lift is for more advanced aging. There are a lot of advantages of this stage. State three involves, again, the laser therapy, that is the micro laser peel along with pro-fractional laser, the four day laser peel. What that does is take care of the pigment and loss of elasticity to your skin. A fat transfer is also done where some fat is taken from one part of the body and then spun in a centrifuge and re-injected with a very small cannula, generally less than a millimeter in diameter. That has the advantages of being very long lasting, very natural, replenishment of that volume loss.
Lastly he would perform a short scar face lift. That's the more involved stage three of the GenX lift. The advantages of this is that it's more abbreviated with regard to scaring. There are less scars. There's one in the sideburn and inside the ear down to the ear lobe. There generally is nothing behind the ear. People have anxiety about having telltale signs of a face lift behind their ear. It really helps avoid that anxiety. The advantages also are that through that short incision Dr. Shapiro is able to elevate the deep tissues of your face, the tissue layer called SMAS. He is able to elevate that up to bring the volume back into a more youthful position without as much of the downtime involved with a more involved face lift. You're getting the advantages of having the same procedure, if you will, with less scaring, easier down time and it tends to be more affordable.
