Do you find that you completely disconnect from yourself when interacting with people? This disconnection from self, known as dissociation, makes it truly impossible to connect with anyone. Often in these times we are taught grounding skills in order to manage the surge of anxiety welling up within us, but this is actually counterproductive to long term freedom from social anxiety disorder. An overwhelming fear of people can lead to full blown social phobia due to past traumas as our bodies do truly keep score from our past experiences. So when you are experiencing overthinking as well as physical symptoms such as a racing heart, blank mind, and shaky voice, you are experiencing what I call a social flashback which I go further into in this video.
