Cooked barnacles are one of the star products on special occasions.
In this recipe you will find the simple technique to prepare them, perhaps it is the simplest shellfish to cook.
In a pot, pour the water with the corresponding amount of salt and put it over high heat to bring it to a boil.
When the water is boiling, add the barnacles and cover the pot with its lid. When you add them, you will see that the water has stopped boiling.
When they boil and bubble again, one minute and it's time to scoop them out with a slotted spoon.
Put them on a plate and, to keep them warm and reach the table at least warm, the ideal is to cover them with a cloth.
This shellfish has two parts, the peduncle, which keeps inside a very tasty meat with a great taste of the sea and the nail, a kind of shell that is formed by several pieces.
When it comes to eating, we simply pinch under the barnacle's nail and pointing at the plate, so that if it splashes, it is there, we pull the skin. Then ingest only the fleshy body of the barnacle.
