Soon after his death, the Doctor takes Sherlock to visit John Watson, where he now runs the Sherlock Holmes museum. It is the last time the pair see each other.
On seeing how much John was affected by Sherlock's death, Amy and the Doctor travel to the past and take John along with them on his adventures. They reminisce back at the museum and Sherlock speaks a last few words to a much older John as a reminder of their first meeting.
