Step-by-step guide on how to remove / replace the factory radio on Volkswagen Jetta mk5 a5 1k5 ( 2005 | 2006 | 2007 | 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | GLI | TDI | 2.0L | 1.9L | 2.5L ).
Removing the radio on mk5 Volkswagen Jetta or is not too hard. All you will need is a Torx T20 screwdriver and a pry tool. Start from the top by removing couple of plastic inserts and once you remove all the inserts you will get access to 4 t20 screws that are holding the radio in place on this VW.
In the back of the factory radio there are 2 connectors which have to be disconnected. Behind the main connector there is a 10A small red fuse. If you radio is not working or not powering up, or no sound coming from the speakers make sure to check that fuse.
You can replace the radio with aftermarket radio for which you will need a kit and an adapter, or with a factory radio from a different Volkswagen vehicle.
