Morning Dragon Qigong: Unlocking Longevity at Imose Falls, Japan.
This video includes Spinal Enlivening Movements, Swimming Dragon Qigong, Dragon Daoyin exercises, Silk Reeling Qigong, and Mindful Moving Meditation.
In Qigong, the Dragon is a metaphor for the Spine. Keeping the spine supple and healthy is a major part of the Qigong philosophy of longevity. This is because the spine is made of so many different joints and bones that can deteriorate with age. But also because the spine is the central structural support of the body, and the largest pathway of energy. The spine even plays a role in preventing cognitive decline, by shuttling cerebrospinal fluid to the brain, which the brain uses to flush waste products during sleep. This process is helped by mobilizing the spine in its full, natural range of motion, especially in the morning after a long immobile sleep, or during the day after long periods of sitting.
The movements in this set are:
1. Knocking on the Door of Life
2. Swimming Dragon - Wide Stance
3. Horse Stance
4. Move the Body Like a River
5. Swimming Dragon - Narrow Stance
