Footage of an enjoyable weekend on board the Grampian Highlander to North Scotland. Beginning at Bristol Temple Meads hauled by GBRF class 66, 66306 to Gloucester. Where 50007 & 50049 would join the train for the lengthy trip to Scotland, covering plenty of mileage over the weekend. The locos worked effortlessly whilst clocking up plenty of miles, and tackling steep gradients, the Lickey, Beattock to name a few. The second day saw the pair visit Inverness, via the Nairn Shires and the rolling hills of Banff and Moray. Upon leaving Inverness, the journey headed onto the Highland Main Line with summits to Perth. On arrival to Perth, leading loco, 50007 ran round the train to access the line onto Aberdeen and ahead of the following day's trip to Leven. The third day, saw the first railtour onto the newly opened Leven branch, a rare bit of mileage for a 50! On the return journey the rear loco would split from the train in Townhill loop and form a double headed formation onwards to Gloucester. Shortly the train would cross over thr famous Forth Bridge before re-entering England as the 50s put in a cracking performance on the ECML touching 100mph in many places. Arrival in York for a quick rest and photostop before steering across the Penines through Huddersfield and then diverting into Stockport from Stalybridge. The locos were soon at journeys end at Gloucester, after a superb weekend marking their maiden journey for the class from Aberdeen to Inverness. Thanks for watching
