In this video Dr Liz answers the questions: "Is someone who takes lots of medications more likely to have dementia?" and "Can you get dementia from medications?"

If you have high-risk factors for heart attacks and strokes, then you’re going to have a higher risk for dementia, and that includes diabetes.

Additionally, the is also the question “Do statins cause dementia?”

Well, someone who is 85 or 90 probably should not be on statins. If someone is younger, and they have a higher risk of heart attacks and strokes, statins are helpful.

The recommendation is to look at the American Heart Association website. They have a calculator for heart attack risk, and it will tell you whether statins are useful or not
