The flight deck is typically a large, flat surface equipped with arresting gear and catapults for launching and recovering aircraft. Apart from that, there is a barrier behind the fighter jet engine when they wanna take off. It's called the Jet Blast Deflector. JBD is a crucial safety feature found on aircraft carriers. It is a large, angled metal structure positioned behind the catapults on the flight deck. Its primary purpose is to redirect and dissipate the powerful jet blast generated by aircraft during takeoff. When an aircraft is launched from a catapult, the engines produce an intense jet blast that can cause damage to equipment, personnel, and other aircraft in its path. The JBD utilizes its angled design to redirect the jet blast upwards and away from the carrier's deck, protecting nearby aircraft, personnel, and equipment from the force and heat of the exhaust. This allows for safer and more efficient flight operations on the carrier's flight deck, ensuring the overall operational readiness of the aircraft carrier.
