Rupert Merson
Adjunct Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship

Rupert Merson is a leading authority on owner-managed entrepreneurial businesses and the problems they confront as they seek to grow. He has been teaching at London Business School for 15 years and has been an Adjunct Professor of INSEAD since 2009. He also taught at CEIBS (Shanghai) and ISB (Hyderabad). At LBS, he currently teaches the hugely popular MBA electives on the Management of the Growing Business, Managing Corporate Turnaround and New Venture Development.

Rupert is an author of 7 books, which include publications on the key roles in the growing business, family business and Corporate Governance. His latest book “Growing a Business: Strategies for Leaders and Entrepreneurs” was published by The Economist in February 2016.

Rupert runs the Rupert Merson LLP, which provides specialist advice to organisations which include entrepreneurial businesses, professional partnerships, family businesses and not-for-profits. In the past he was a partner at the accountancy firm BDO Stoy Hayward and these days is also non-executive director of Wardour Communications Ltd and Dahabshiil Transfer Services Ltd. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, the Royal Society for the Encouragements of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
