Those awaiting director James Camerons Avatar sequels, may have to wait a tad longer as the movie has been delayed again as the director said the December 2021 release is no longer possible. Cameron reached out fans with a statement, detailing the move amid the changing COVID-19 situation across the world. "There is no one more disappointed about this delay than me," Cameron said in his note. "What most of you likely dont know is that the pandemic is still preventing us from being allowed to recommence most of our virtual production work on stage in Los Angeles. That work is just as critical to the films as the live-action work," he added. Avatar 2 has been moved from December 17, 2021, to December 16, 2022; Avatar 3 from December 22, 2023, to December 20, 2024; Avatar 4 from December 19, 2025, to December 18, 2026; and Avatar 5 from December 17, 2027, to December 22, 2028, stated a report on Hollywood Reporter. "Due to Covid-19, we were forced into an unexpected lengthy delay in starting the live-action filming we are currently doing in New Zealand. What most of you likely do not know is that the pandemic is still preventing us from being allowed to recommence most of our virtual production work on stages in Los Angeles. That work is just as critical to the films as the live-action work. Prior to Covid-19, everything was on track to bring you the first sequel in December of 2021. According to the latest reports, it isnt just Avatar, but also Mulan, Christopher Nolans Tenet, the next untitled Star Wars film, Tom Cruises Top Gun John Krasinski-directedA Quiet PlaceTwo, Ali Fazals Death on the Nile are among the other films that have also been delayed.
