This video shows a compilation of time-lapse photos of a penitente field in the semi-arid Andes of Chile. Penitents are ablation features that typically form in a dry and cold climate. Energy-consumptive sublimation occurs on the tips of the penitentes, whereas in the troughs melt prevails. The camera was installed by the glaciology group of CEAZA.
