Samaritan Help Mission is an initiative that was started in Tikiapara, a slum in Kolkata, West Bengal by Mamoon Akhtar, along with a few friends. Their dream was to prevent innocent children and women from being pushed into drug peddling and other criminal activities due to poverty and a lack education. The name Samaritan is inspired by its meaning – ‘Work for Humanity’.
