On July 4th, 2012, San Diego's highly anticipated independence day fireworks show ended up being a massive failure. Every year thousands of people travel to San Diego from all over the country to celebrate this event. It’s so popular visitors camp overnight on the beach to secure a good spot. The fireworks show was scheduled to start at 9 PM. As the start time grew closer people crowded the shoreline and suddenly all four barges ignited at once creating a bright white fireball in in the sky amazing and confusing spectators. It turns out 7,000 fireworks intended for a 17-minute display ignited prematurely in just under one minute. It was determined a glitch in software caused the show to play in fast forward. Despite the letdown, many spectators say it was the greatest fireworks show they'd ever seen.
