More than six years since the fire at Grenfell tower, the Social Housing Regulation Act has finally become law.
This is a truly historic moment for the social housing sector - and the result of years of tireless campaigning from Grenfell United, activists and so many of YOU.
The Act will hold social landlords to account and – crucially – should save lives. However, while we celebrate these achievements, we cannot forget how we got here. The fire at Grenfell Tower should never have happened, and it shouldn’t have taken this long for real, lasting change to come about. The Social Housing Regulation Act is part of the legacy of the victims, survivors, and bereaved families of the fire. 💚
