Ready for a challenge? Try to hold this move for a minute without the shoulder blade sticking off of the back! This is an amazing way to strengthen the shoulder blades and the “serratus anterior” to keep your blades from “winging” off of your back. If you have wings (shoulder blades visibly stick off of the back), then this serratus muscle is weak!
The exercise in this video is actually quite advanced with one arm. If you are REALLY struggling to do the motion in the video and can’t hold it for more than 10 seconds, try it with both hands on the ground and reach your spine to the ceiling. If that is still too hard, do it on an elevated surface up against a table or chair. Again, the goal is to do this exercise without the blades winging off of the back… if they are, then you are not ready for it!
