When Joey was diagnosed with autism almost 10 years ago his mother had no idea she would eventually turn to medical marijuana as a treatment option, but it was the only treatment that saved his life. After 13 different medications (only 2 are FDA approved to treat the symptoms of autism, the rest being experimental) his body deteriorated down to 46 pounds.
After astonishing his doctors at UCI and through working with Lester Grinspoon from Harvard, Joey is now twice his weight and his doctors are preparing their research for the rest of the medical community, the autism community, and anyone who wants to learn more about the benefits of medical marijuana.
HOPE Wellness Collective has stepped up to the plate and donated funds to keep Joey in aquatic therapy sessions after Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) denied them.
