This is what it looks like when a Marine uses a shotgun to open a door.
A locked door is no problem when you’re a Marine Combat Engineer. Especially when you’re a Marine Combat Engineer armed with a 12 gauge shotgun.
In this drill, Marines use special rounds in their Benelli M1014 and Mossberg 590 shotguns that are specifically made for breaching doors. These breaching rounds are designed to not go through the door at high speeds or ricochet around in order to reduce the chance of endangering lives, since you never know who might be on the other side.
They place their shotguns just inches away from either the hinges or the area between the lock and the doorjamb, before pulling the trigger and turning them into dust, allowing them to gain entry through the previously locked door.
