Defend Americana with the Kipping Escape: you don’t see the traditional keylock (aka the "Americana") from the mounted position too often after a certain level, but it’s very important to understand the basic defense so you can avoid the submission when it comes around. We take it to the next level here by following up with an entry into the legs using ashi-garami and a kipping escape. The main component of the defense - bridging and retracting the elbow - also leads right into a misalignment between you and the person on top. From there, the kip is a great option to get things moving in your favor once again.
