How to use lavender oil for acne? Is it safe?
It can be potentially useful for acne, because it has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
It can act indirectly - by reducing stress and anxiety, which may cause the cells to produce more sebum, which, when in excess, can clog the pores, and lead to acne.
To reduce stress, you can inhale the oil regularly, using a steam inhalation.
You can also apply it on the wrists, back of neck or temples, but make a patch test first, to see if it causes an allergy reaction or not. These are the simplest lavender oil uses for acne treatment.
There are other ways too - such as facial steaming or acne spot treatment with lavender oil, and they are mentioned in this video.
Please be aware, that while using lavender essential oil for acne, one may experience some side effects: sometimes the application of oil directly on the skin may worsen the condition; it can make pimples look redder and more prominent; it may decrease your skin cells’ resistance to UV radiation, and cause redness and irritation.
Nevertheless, if you prefer to use acne remedies at home, and appreciate the natural treatment, you may still want to try lavender oil for acne, because there are many people who report the positive results from using this product.
