Perfectionism is a strong foe, but with some wisdom we realize we have to stop being a perfectionist.
Brene Brown says Perfectionism is a twenty-ton shield we lug around thinking it will protect us when in fact its the very thing thats preventing us from taking flight.
Perfectionism is:
- being overly critical
- setting unachievable standards
- setting yourself up for disappointment
- not letting yourself grow into your true potential
Perfectionism Trap
- We help others with their projects and goals in order to avoid our own projects and goals.
- We tell ourselves that by seeing someone else's growth and bravery we will develop our own.
- But the BEST growth comes when we STOP being a perfectionist. When we try, when we take risks, when we iterate, grow, and laugh at our mistakes.
- You will make progress
Let's reframe perfectionism as striving to be our best.
