In this video I turn a Chip and Dip bowl out of a block of Ash to give as a gift for Christmas. While turning I discovered a crack hidden inside the Ash so it was necessary to cut a strip out and glue in a contrasting insert. I chose Yew for that purpose as the piece I had was the right size and I had never used it before. In the end decided to segment the inner cup out of Yew too so that there was more of a contrast of colours and grains in the final piece.

The piece was finished with Yorkshire Grit and Hampshire Sheen High Gloss on the outside and Yorkshire Grit and Carnauba Wax on the inside to seal the wood with a food safe finish.
