Our student this week is currently taking online classes while working full-time and raising his kids. He has great clinical experience as an EMT, paramedic, and firefighter. His first question is about whether medical schools will accept online classes during the pandemic this fall.
He's also been having a hard time fitting in shadowing and volunteering while taking his premed classes. Should he be worried about that? Here, I discuss the common confusion between volunteering and clinical experience among premeds.
Lastly, we talk about his upward trend in GPA. What if he can't get his cumulative GPA over 3.0 before applying? Should he apply anyway? Or should he keep taking more classes until it's above a 3.0 GPA?
