“The Blues— Why It Still Hurts So Good” A groundbreaking book by Dr. Marie Trout
Although there are many books about Blues music and personalities, until now there has never been an empirical study of why we love this seminal form of music. Our good friend Dr. Marie Trout will shortly publish “The Blues— Why It Still Hurts So Good,” a book that anyone who cares about Blues music will want to read. You also will be supporting a great cause: all proceeds from the book benefit the Blues Foundation’s HART Fund, which provides critical and often lifesaving medical assistance to musicians who otherwise would not have access to healthcare.
We sat down with Marie at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis to talk about what she has learned about those of us who deeply love, and feel, Blues music. Marie is an accomplished writer, and you will enjoy her important insights into Blues fans and Blues music.
